Seeing Clearly
I have been without a contact in my eye for a few years now...yes, I said contact, singular. Only my left eye needs correction, so it wasn't too big of a deal to not have my contact, but I decided it might be time to get a new one. So I went to the optometrist, and as it turns out I have astigmatism in my left eye as well...what that is, I'm still not sure. But my contacts have to be put in a certain way for them to work properly. They say, "OK" at the bottom of the lens. So I look at the contact, it says "OK," I plop them in and go. So I go back in for a checkup today and guess what? Apparently the OK is supposed to be on the top of the lens and be backwards. So I have been wearing them upside down this whole time. Talk about making a difference. I can see clearly now. It has made me wonder what other things in my life do I think I am looking correctly at but really I am looking at them upside down. When I see a homeless person on the street, my first reaction is, "how did you get there? or why don't you just get a job?" when my real question should be, "what do you need?" When I encounter a person who rubs me the wrong way, I should calm my desire to punch them and look on them with love. I pray that God helps me turn my spiritual contacts right side up, so my natural inclinations are turned upside down.
